I was only up for the Sunday but must say that I had a whale of a time. Well organised, no major toilet dramas (for the lads at least), great acts, some alternative entertainment on the perimeter stage, beautiful setting......can't have too many complaints at all.
Although having said that, nothing wrong with constructive criticism and €6 a pint was maybe a bit rich and they weren't exactly giving the food away either. Still, the most important criteria is value for money and having retired into the night after a full day of entertainment for my €60 ticket I have to say that it delivered on that in spades.
Kraftwerk were visually very impressive although the tunes were a little underwhelming for somebody like myself who prefer the likes of Leftfield and Daft Punk that have a bit more anthemic bang throughout the back catalogue. Still a quality show and worth seeing. Yeah Yeah Yeahs played a solid set and I thought Hot Chip were excellent and got the crowd juiced up in earnest.
Really hope this is back again next year and they fine tune one or two of the issues without trying to take people to the cleaners and cramming more people in just to make more profit.
Congrats to MCD for the way they put this together and pulled it off, I was worried when I heard sales had been sluggish but the good weather came to the rescue for a sell out.
Look forward to Longitude 2014!
